Sudhi Choudhary

Sudhi Choudhary is a career diplomat who joined the Indian Foreign Service in 2009.
She served in the Embassy of India, Hanoi, Vietnam(2011-12) as Third Secretary which was her first Mission posting. While in Hanoi, she earned an Advanced Diploma in Vietnamese language with distinction. During her posting as First Secretary at the Embassy of India, Bangkok (2017-20), she was looking after the Political and Projects Wings. She also represented India as the Alternate Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP). She additionally served as Acting Director of Swami Vivekananda Culture Center during some part of her assignment in Bangkok.
Her posting tenures in India included work in Multilateral Economic Relations-ASEAN Division(2011) and Southern Division (2012-14) where she was desk officer for India's bilateral relations with several ASEAN countries. During 2015-17, she served at the Regional Passport Office, Bengaluru as Acting Regional Passport Officer and Deputy Passport Officer. During this period many citizen centric measures concerning passports were implemented by the Government of India.
She was born in the North Indian state of Uttar Pradesh and primarily grew up in its culturally endowed capital city, Lucknow. She was educated at Loreto Convent School and Isabella Thoburn College in Lucknow. She has two Masters degrees, an M.A. and an M.Phil. from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi where she was also a University Grants Commission Junior Research Fellow. Throughout her academic career, Sudhi Choudhary, has been awarded several scholarships and certificates of merit. She was also a National Service Scheme volunteer during 2001-2003.
She speaks Hindi, English and Vietnamese. She is married to Kanav Bhartendu and they have a son.
